Those who don’t know about it – NaNoWriMo is an abbreviation of National Novel Writing Month which a self-challenge taken by the want-to-be authors to create their first draft of my novel in the month of November every year.
This year I will be participating in this challenge. I haven’t planned the details or structure of a story. However, I have been forming many scenes for 2-3 stories in my mind from the last 3-4 years. Yes, it’s been that long of my procrastination period.
The first and foremost reason is that almost every writer wants to become an author.
Secondly, I no longer want to procrastinate my dream of publishing a novel. I wrote a chapter of a novel long back and published it on this blog page but I didn’t write anything after that. My prime reason to wait this long (what I tell myself) is that I do not have much time. It’s true in a way but after a certain period, it became an excuse. The truth is that in present, I am busier than I ever was. I know for a fact that I shall be the busiest in the future. So, you see it comes down to – Now or Never. Let’s hope I make it.
When I have 2-3 ideas, I usually go with my instincts and choose what I feel strongly about that moment. I shall the concept and commence my process with writing any odd chapter which can elaborate about the character. I think that any writer (film, story or novel) must explore their characters (perhaps, not all but the central ones), let them place into a scene and let them interact with each other or the world we are about to create.
I already have a good idea about the start and the middle which can be a good place to start. The characters, their attributes and their actions in different situations will direct the writer to the best climax.
What’s on here?
I will probably post updates and small snippets which you can read and give your thoughts about it.
I shall go back to my stealth mode to begin. To all the people who are participating in this #NaNoWriMo challenge – All the Best. If anyone wants to take the challenge then just take it; there is no need for permission. You mustn’t wait for the perfect time. Trust me, it will never come by waiting. If you like to be motivated during your first draft finishing period, you can sign up to NaNoWriMo website.
Tell me your thoughts on how you are threading and molding your idea for the novel or a story.
